Applying for Bürgergeld: which Anlagen you actually need

The Bürgergeld application consists of the Hauptantrag (HA) plus several Anlagen, but nobody needs all of them. Which ones you need depends on your situation: the Anlage KDU for rent and heating, the Anlage EK for income from work, the Anlage EKS for self-employment, the Anlage WEP for a partner and for children aged 15 and over, the Anlage KI for children under 15, and the Anlage VM for assets. This overview shows who fills in which Anlage and links to the matching step-by-step guide. Every form can be filled in with the PDeF editor on a computer or a phone.

  1. 1. Always: the Hauptantrag HA

The Hauptantrag is the basis and is always filled in by the applicant. It asks for personal data, bank details, marital status and housing situation.

  2. 2. Almost always: KDU (rent) and EK or EKS (income)

If you have costs for accommodation and heating, the Anlage KDU belongs with it. For income from employment you use the Anlage EK, for income from self-employment the Anlage EKS. Both are filled in per person with income.

  3. 3. Depending on the household: WEP, KI, VM

If a partner or children aged 15 and over live with you, an Anlage WEP is added for each person; for children under 15 it is the Anlage KI. The Anlage VM (assets) is filled in once for the whole Bedarfsgemeinschaft.

  4. 4. Fill everything in and sign digitally

Open each form in the PDeF editor, pull recurring details from the local profile, sign, and download the PDF. For HA, KDU, EK, EKS and WBA the editor explains every field in plain language.

Tips

  • Better to submit the Hauptantrag early and incomplete and hand in the Anlagen afterwards: the application is backdated to the first of the month.
  • Save every filled PDF locally: for the next renewal application you open it as a template.

Note, not legal advice: which Anlagen your Jobcenter requires in your specific case is stated in the covering letter and in the official filling instructions. When in doubt, ask your caseworker or a social advice centre.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to fill in every Anlage?

No. The Hauptantrag is mandatory, the Anlagen only where they apply to your situation. The Hauptantrag points to the matching Anlage in its own text.

Which Anlage do I need for the rent?

The Anlage KDU (costs of accommodation and heating). You fill it in when you have costs for housing and heating.

What is the difference between EK and EKS?

The Anlage EK records income from employment and other income, the Anlage EKS records income from self-employed or freelance work.

Do I need an Anlage for every child?

For children aged 15 and over one Anlage WEP each, for children under 15 one Anlage KI each. A single assets form (VM) covers the whole Bedarfsgemeinschaft.

Do I have to retype the basic data for every Anlage?

No. Name, address, BG number and IBAN are stored once in the local profile and pulled into every form with a click. Only the form-specific entries are typed individually.

Are my entries kept for the next application?

Yes. Save every filled PDF; when you reopen it the editor recognises the form and restores your earlier entries. For the renewal application you then only change what has changed.
